Sabeecha lost in space - Rahma Mohammad

With cunning and witting morphism, Sabeecha lost in space, Rahma Mohammad’s recent work, juxtaposes a traditional Saudi man in outer space, asking viewers to contemplate and examine the ramifications expanding technologies might have on old cultures and lifestyles.

Much like a cat in water, the subject of Mohammad’s work looks lost, out of place, and confused. What purpose can tradition make for itself in the new cultures brought by technology, science and development, and as we as a global society strive further towards the space age, what will be left behind?

Is the artist forcing us to question the outdatedness of cultures of the past, or, simply sympathise with those being placed on the outskirts, begging us to consider throwing a line out so that we can all advance as one.

Rahma Mohammad is an artist and illustrator based in Saudi Arabia.

Each artwork is made available in one size only that is specifically chosen by our in-house art curators based on the most ideal dimensions for the artistic creation on display.
